    Default Good Second Frog?

Last week I bought some Oriental Fire Bellied Toads and they've been great. Some time in the future (obvs not any time near now!) I'm hoping to get another frog or two- probably tree frogs. My favourites are Red Eyed Tree Frogs, White's Tree Frogs, and Amazon Milk Frogs. Which of these would be best for a second pet frog?
    Thanks,
    Miss Froggie

    Hello Miss Froggie.

I have been able to keep all of the species you have mentioned, with the exception of the Amazon Milk frogs.

The first thing is that you do not mix these frogs with your Fire Bellied Toads. I don't know if thats what you had in mind, but a Whites Tree Frog or Amazon Milk frog would eat your toads, and a Red Eyed Tree Frog has different habitat requirements than Fire Bellied Toads. If you were to get a new frog, you should get a new tank. (Again sorry if you already knew that, but I have to warn people about this. I lost many specimens making the mistake of putting them with Fire Bellied Toads.)

A Whites Tree frog is great. They have fantastic personalities, they aren't so expensive and their care level is really easy. If you give them a water dish, a substrate that will hold in humidity, a light and some branches and plants, you are good to go. They need a tank of at least 20 gallons, though.

Red Eyed Tree Frogs are also great. They require at least a 10 gallon for one specimen, and a 20 gallon for more than one. However, they need higher humidity than a Whites Tree Frog. Also, they prefer live plants over fake plants.

I do not recommend Amazon Milk Frogs to anyone but very experienced frog keepers. I have over 15 frogs at home, and I have kept many different kinds of frogs, and I have been trying to obtain a milk frog. They need a pretty large tank of at least 30-40 gallons, and need lots of branches, live plants and a recommended half land half water tank (although this is not completely necessary). They are also so hard to obtain, that I eventually just gave up, because I did not have the time to hunt them down to purchase them, or the money and time to set up a complex vivarium that they need. They are also very expensive (ranging from 40-70 dollars)

Other species (if you are interested) that I would also recommend are the White Lipped Tree Frog, Green Tree Frog, Cuban Tree Frog, Big Eyed Tree Frog, Tiger Legged Monkey Frog and Golden Tree Frogs.

Good Luck with your new frogs

Thank you so much for the advice on frogs!
I was originally planning on having green tree frogs in with the FBTs but did some research beforehand and thought better of it (phew!). I think if I one day get a second frog it will be the White's, although I still hope to get a RETF someday.
    Thanks again,
    MissFroggie
