mist king AND any ideas ?

Hi All,
I am getting a Mist King for Christmas! Hurray !
This is my second winter with a 36” high exo-terra which is in my basement. Burrrrrr
(screen top /half blocked )
Long Island , NY - Winter - I struggle keeping it warm and humid enough!
The heat dries things out. I think I have developed arthritis from the spray bottle. Ha!
It seems I have a thousand things plugged in. I have the fire department on speed dial. lol
The top is nice and warm but the bottom is cooler- it bugs me ?

Any ideas for fine tuning the temp. consistency in a tall tank?
I am thinking of heating the water in the Mist King bucket w/ an aquarium heater. ( another plug !!!!)

On the other hand, it’s great in the summer- needs very little. In fact, I have to use a fan !

Hi Lynn,
Heat mats on the sides are my only thoughts here but keep in mind that the more heat you are applying, the faster the humidity burns off.

The mats are a good idea .
I had one last year under the tank. I move it though.
It got really warm- I did not want to crack the glass.

Any suggestions as to how to suspend the head/s inside the enclosure rather than puncture a hole in the screen lid of my exo-terra

Have not seen anything that will allow clamping to a side. The only way I know is to come right through the top. I haven't used the item you have linked so can't really say how well it works.

I came through the screen material and added large plastic washers to each side of the screen to make the nozzle stand and not bend the screen. The video Mist King has on exo-terra install should be the best way to install the system unless you find a way to clamp the heads to the tank sides.

Update---Mist King set up - pics below
I am reluctant to make a hole in the screen of the exo-terra /top.
So, here is my solution. I think?
They don't wiggle around. I have the washers on the mist heads tightened on both sides of the
shower curtain hooks.
The hooks are hung by smalls hole drilled into the screen frame.
I had one hook up there anyway to suspend the pothos up high.
If all works out well, I will wrap the pothos around the tubing to hide it.
We'll see.




whoops- poor baby, I woke her up ! I had to wait till she went back to sleep to finish up. "Cricket"







I heated the distilled water. Don't want the temp to drop after a mist!

Looks that will work just fine. You might even find her perched on the nozzle system :-)

Like you said, keep an eye on humidity so it is not too high.

I was thinking about increasing the mist time?
However, I have decided to wait -- and just watch things.
The bottom of the enclosure is nice and wet.
