I have two small whites... about an inch... maybe just a bit more... one chirps when I bring him out of his pen... for about 10 or 15 chirps... then he stops... the other one does not do this... is the chirper a male? is he happy or mad (he seems happy... likes being out of his pen... does not try to jump away). just wondering why he chirps...
Sounds like a release call - could be a male.

Mine does that if I pick him up too swiftly. Are you picking him up from the top (swooping your hand over his back and wrapping your fingers around his belly) or scooping him up from under his belly with your hand?
I put my finger under his chin... then he walks onto my hand... and I lift... one says nothing and the other one like to talk... sometimes he just starts chriping while in my hand watching TV... he likes to be held... well it seems so because he walks onto my hand... and does not want to get off when I put him back... My one Female Red Eye is like this too... she wants on and will go to sleep once she is there... and watch tv all night long... then I try and put her back... and she does not want to leave.... the boy red eye always trys to leave my hand... he likes to be free and walk about...
Doesn't sound like a release call to me then. What do you think John?
Hard to know. Could be a male.
