I have a male green treefrog purchased from petsmart a few months ago and thought he was a female. He often had a dark green throat (characteristic of males) but I assumed he was a female because what I've read is that males croak annoyingly loud - and he never did. But last night I was startled by a very loud barking/croaking noise repeated rapidly for about 7 seconds (until I turned the lights on) and saw that he was indeed calling for a female. I am wondering how I can make him do this, because I am hoping to find a female at the petstore in the next few months and maybe BREED them. I would maybe leave the two in an appropriate breeding tank and place it outside on a warm, humid, summer night (I live in their natural range) and have them lay some eggs. Is this reasonable? Has it been done with hyla cinerea? How can I induce calling behavior?

btw, first time on the forum. I've read it for a while but never decided to join until now
