    Default Plant Vendors?

Currently, I am planning to build a vivarium for my White’s Tree frog. I am trying to plan the design and have a set budget for terrarium/vivarium plants. I have a pet store, here in town, in which I can purchase plants from…..but the plants don’t appear sturdy enough for my frog’s heavy body lol . Also, I have purchased some plants from Welcome to Black Jungle Terrarium Supply - The Natural Choice! and they are really nice!

Does anyone here know of any other online vendors that sell live plants, safe for terrarium use?

I've never ordered from them, but they have a great reputation, Josh's Frogs - Largest online herps feeders and reptile supplies store

Most of my plants come from Home Depot, WalMart and a nursery that has a big tropical plant section. I don't have a White's, but the various Sansevierias (aka Snake Plants, aka Mother-in-laws tongue) should be good candidates for their fatness and are widely available (no help if they aren't specifically available in Alaska though).

For my white's I use snake plants, broms would work too, but I do not have any, and dracaneas. A great plant supplier is Welcome to Black Jungle Terrarium Supply - The Natural Choice! , they have EVERYTHING. Though, you can get most of the plants from walmart/home depot/lowes, like UncleChester said. All my plant's were bought at walmart for 2.50 a piece lol.

EDIT: whoops. I didn't notice you already linked black jungle. Other than joshs frogs and black jungle, there aren't many great suppliers of plants for frogs out there. There is a local supplier (New England Herpetoculture - Home) that has a great selection, but I'm not sure if they ship to AK.

    Hi Autumn,
I have purchased a few times from these 3 places, and was pleased:

    Logee's

    New England Herpetoculture - Plants

    TROPICAL PLANTS

(this last one is huge- the site is a pain to navigate )

Believe it or not home depot has good prices on plants. All need re-potting ,of course.

I added links to photos for every plant in my enclosure if you want take a peak?
They are all tried and true for me.
I have ( day time ) 2 - 48 inch ceiling mounted 'plant' florescents above the enclosure and 1- small uvb bulb near by.

The list of plants is in my 'Set-Up' album.

The plants are fun! Especially if you like to garden

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving ! My husband and I are off to Philly to visit my son.

Both HD and Lowes are national (inter I think) and are reliable, but if you get any buy any plants there, they have fertilizer in the soil, so you must repot the plant into clean, fertilizer free soil/substrate.

Yes , Lowes sells plants as well. I'm sure they come from the same place. Both places always have pothos and common tropicals.
Plants from these big box stores need to be cleaned really well -they are usually covered w/ some kind of dried powdery **** .
I re-pot in tropical soil , and wait ( at least 2 weeks) before placing in the froggie enclosure.

    That's great!

Hmmm, maybe that's why I never bothered with plants from HD and Lowes before haha :P. Thank you for the tip Lynn !
