Question Whites seem to be coping differently

Hi all, I'm new to the ownership of Whites, and I currently have 2 young frogs, they reside in a 12gallon tall tank, temps are 76-70, they are on an EcoSoil and sphagnum moss substrate, this slopes into a small water pool, and there are plenty of vines/branches and leaves(albeit artificial) for them to explore. They are misted with aquasafe treated tap water twice a day.

I've had them for one week now, and one seems to be doing much better than the other. They are both active, however I've only seen one of them feed. I'm currently offering small locust, small brown crickets and very small wax worms. Now the larger one (as it has now become!) has scarfed some of everything and exhibits a beautiful rich green, however the smaller is still showing a darker olive green and I've yet to see him feed. I'm planning on going down the route of hand feeding with tweezer.

Anyone any other suggestions as to what may be up? I can't see it being environment as one is thriving. I don't wish to let one of these get two big for fear of the other being seen as food.

    Any advice would be appreciated

Maybe u should put the smaller one in a different tank so u can monitor if he really is eating.
Just make it simple, use moist paper towel as substrate and maybe a fake plant or two for some hiding spots. Put like 4crickets in the cage and see what happens.
The other frog may be a lil more aggressive about eating food from the other one. By using paper towel he will be able to see crickets more easily and u will be able to monitor if crickets are gone and/or if he's pooping

Many thanks for the reply Shanny, I'll be giving that a go today- The larger of the two, Momo, is quite the gluton, and I'm suspecting he is a lilttle intimidating to the other.

    I'll post on the outcome.

i have this same problem tho i do know that both mine r eating. wen we got them they were both the same size but now one is a fair bit larger than the other. im puttin this down to it bein either that the larger is a female or just that it is the more dominant frog. iv noticed the smaller tends to wait til the larger has had her pick of food then hell go get some crickets afterwards. i defo agree with shanny, if u r worried about the smaller one not gettin any food them seperate them, even if its only at meal time. it may b that ur just not seein it eat but best to b safe. it could like u say just b intimidated by the larger frog and could b part of his personality. good luck

Thanks for the reply Mim, i've just had a highly triumphant moment tonight, as I watched the little one eat for the first time, in the main tank. I think the opinion he is male, the larger is female could prove true. I've since seen them sit close to one another, and both have gone a beautiful soft emerald green -I will post pics once i've charged my camera!-

I've also noticed they are both starting to explore the vivarium a little more, making myself feel confident of the enclosure I've created for them.

How long have you had your two Mim?

We got ours nearly two months ago. Ur story seems really similar to ours. I think that its also the change in environment for them and they need to get used to it. We've slowly added more branches etc for the frogs to explore and they love it now. The bigger one was posin on a leaf the other nite whilst I tried to get some decent pictures lol. They're slowly 'comin out of their shells'. They're not bothered by ours cats either which is cool. I'm glad u saw urs eatin. That's brilliant news!
