Was hoping to have a pair, can anyone help sex them please and thank you!
Frog number 1
Frog number 2
Side by Side:
Generally the female is bigger, so I'd say the brighter colored one is female. Do either of them call? If one does, then it's a male. Keep in mind though, that if in distress or being held even females can let out an "alarm" call.
Please post photos of the inside of the thumbs.
Also, there may be a dark patch on the throat of a male.
sorry for the late response, I have not heard any calling yet and I am actually putting them through the dry season and going to start the wet season (rain chamber next week).
Here are the pictures of their toe pads.
Sorry I should have been more specific. Please post photos of the inside of the thumbs from above.
A photo like this. This is a male Agalychnis saltator, though A. callidryas will be the same if the male is in breeding condition. If not it is harder but possible.
so I did the best that I can and then I got scare I was stressing them out too much so here are the pictures I manage to get:
It looks to me which ever is the animal in the photo 2nd in from the right is a female. I've found in all the red eyes I've dealt with the white on the thumb doesn't come down as far on males as it does on females. In breeding conition it is obvious as the males have the black nuptial pads on the thumbs.
To me from the photos you have provided I would say you have two females though.
