[QUOTE=mh530;88457] Don't compare people to frogs..okay. Frogs are just animals not people. poeple are above frog. It is an insult to intelligence to compare a person to a dumb frog.QUOTE]
Humans are not above frogs. Humans are usurpers of nature. Every where we go we destroy the planet, just by sitting here at my computer I am polluting. We dig up the land burn fossil fuels tear down forests all for greed in the pursuit to be above other humans. Humans are the lowest of the low in the animal kingdom, when was the last time you saw a frog cause an oil spill in the middle of the sea or drop a bomb on each other. Everything we do destroys the planet. If frogs are so dumb how come we know virtualy nothing about some species and yet they get on with their lives without having to go to school and be taught how to live or destroy the planet.
Oh good greif!!!! You guys are abunch of kooks! I can't find a single frog forum that isn't like this! People are above animals. can frogs build houses, fans, furnaces, clothes, ect. I just don't get it....you people like so highly of animals but not yourselves. You have turned the planet into your own little god. You guys will NEVER save the planet.......it is going to end up destroyed!! If you are "polluting" the earth right now why are you on the computer? or for that matter in a heated house? Since you like them so much why do you go live with the birds and animals? You won't be "polluting" the earth....lol!
Not to sound like a tree hugger, but just because your ignorant teenager doesn't mean your right, granted you are entitled to your opinion but there is a line. Judging other people based on what they've said in a forum is pretty arrogant. No one said we would save the planet, he was just making a point. We have a higher intelligence than animals yes, but that doesn't make us "above" them. Wipe the planet of animals, and lemme know how it goes. They power our planet if ya haven't noticed. No one here is an extremist eco freak, and the planet isn't our "god" we just happen to live on it and respect that.
And it's grief** .
And insulting frogs on a FROG forum is generally not a good idea.
Listen...I was not trying to bash frogs or any other animal. I enjoy God's creation just like you do. But he said himself that people are above animals. I was just saying people are more capable of doing more things than frogs and people are more intelligent. And I wasn't saying you were and eco earth person...I was just speaking of people in general. I am trying to say I am right or trying to make you change I was just voicing my opinion. anyway...I would still like to be friends. so can we quit going back and forth???
Good point but I still believe humans are not above animals the best we can do is be their equals. I am in no way an eco freak I love big beasty v6 and v8 cars and technology is great the problem I have is the way we have gained this stuff.
NOW back to the frog how's it doing?
Yeah, how is the frog?
Using the word "flushing" to dispose of a dead pet suggests that you view it as, well, disposable. That's what people will read into it whether that's how you feel or not.
What do you mean he "prolapsed" and now is fine? What exactly happened?
Are you gutloading your crickets prior to feeding? Dusting them?
I also agree that they need a larger tank. 10 gallons will be way too small for 3 tree frogs, and too small for even one adult.
You'll also find most people suggest not mixing species of frogs in the same tank, which I gather from your posts is what you have done. All frogs secrete some level of toxin as self defense, and this can build up in confined quarters and cause problems, even if the frogs can be found next to each other in the wild (extreme example is the pickerel frog, Rana palustris, which will kill off just about anything you put in the same water bucket even though they were side by side in a pond a few minutes earlier). I've seen more than one person say they've kept grays and greens successfully together over the years, but always in much roomier conditions so this isn't something I'd rule out as a potential issue.
Best of luck in any case.
Okay let see......Frogs are not disposable to me....I just flush them because...well..that's what I have always done.
He bloated up(so much you could see through him) and went belly up...thats when I thought he was died. then he flipped back up and acted fine, so I gave him some small crickets 'cause it had been 2-3 days since he had eaten. the next morning I went to check on him and he had thown his stomach up and was acting weird again. So I put same water in with him and it seemed to help a little. I little while later I looked in on him again and he was sitting still again looking fine. in the corner of the tank I spotted a small blob of something....I am thinking it was puke. He wasn't pooped since last friday. So I am thinking something it blocking him from being able to poop. when he started acting this way I took the bark out of the container the other two frogs are in. I would take him to the vet but I don't have enough money to. He is WC.....does that have anything to do with it? I don't want to just abandon him by setting him outside...he would be a perfect target for other animals...What should I do? When I first got him I wasn't planning on him getting sick!
1.) should always have a vet fund on hand
2.) He sounds like he is impacted from the bark, so I believe the only course of action would be vet visit.

All pets have a potential for getting sick, as do humans. I don't think there is any choice at this point. I don't think soaking will be enough. He really needs a vet visit. Poor little guy.

People are animals just like any other animal. Just because we can make tools and have thumbs doesn't make us "better" than other animals. And no, it would be an insult to intelligence to compare a dumb person to a frog.
Actually, we're supposed to take care of them. That doesn't make us better than them. That makes us caretakers. Assuming you're Jewish/Christian/Muslim and you believe that particular verse anyway.
By not taking care of your pets, you're kind of ignoring that verse you're using for your argument. Just saying.
I've only been able to find references of pacman frogs having a stomach prolapse. That it's apparently reinserted itself is a good thing, but honestly this sounds like vet time. No one ever plans on their pet being sick but they still need to be prepared for it and to seek qualified help when needed.
You also need to give serious thought to how you are keeping your frogs. Proper nutrition and housing are so important, and I'm sure you don't want your other frogs falling ill as well.
Also, do you use any vitamin/calcium supplements?
You know, as I read all of this all I can think is...wow! Really?
I am a very caring person, so please don't take this wrong...
Maybe we (humans) are superior, maybe not. Does it really matter? Yes, we are an advanced species. But doesn't that mean we have more knowledge to share or to take care of our world and of the critters with less fortune? Why is this cause for argument? Silly, really.
I too also am a Christian but do not use it against another for any reason, nor use God's reference for meaningless debate. It's just not nice, to say the least.
You have joined a forum of people who enjoy and respect amphibians. The folks here are just trying to be helpful and are offering you the advice you had requested. Please keep that in mind.
Your frog has a serious problem. We are just trying to help. That's all.
What would you do if it was a puppy? And if you don't feel it is that important to care for your frogs even when they are ill, well, than perhaps frogs are not the proper pet for you.
Simply put.
I hope your frog comes around. You can try soaking him in dechlorinated water to see if he can pass some stool and/or the bark. Otherwise, consider a vet.
P.S. I am sure you are getting similar responses from other forums because of your own responses to your own comments and questions.
Pets are not just all fun and games. And that is true of ALL pets. Each pet requires specific care needs. Choosing to become a pet owner comes with responsibility. It's not just "oh well" if they get sick and/or die. See where I'm coming from?
Would you set your sick kitten or puppy outside and leave them bc they are ill? I think you'll understand what we see in your comments if you really think about it. I hope so.
And again, the folks here are truly kind and helpful.
Good luck! I hope your little frog pulls through.

Very well said Heather.
Thanks! Just caring and trying to be hopeful for the situation. Ugh!
