This is true :l
Yes. And more importantly, the manager of the store acknowledges that they can sell animals, even when kept under horrible conditions. In fact, they actuall sell MORE when kept in poor condition, because people save them. So, if you ask me, "saving" frogs do a lot more harm than good in the long run and for the hobby (and the frogs).
This is an important aspect that I've (and other people as well) talked about in several post when people are resucing frogs from chain stores. However, most of the time, people seem to just ignore the post, so after a while you get tired of writing about it. I just personally feel that if you actually care about the animal and the hobby, you should never buy an animal from a pet store in order to save them from them, because this just fuels the problem even more.
(Now, I'm not saying that people should never buy an animal from a chain store. I'm just saying that if you actually want to save frogs, you should think about the bigger picture)
You know, I never thought of it that way, but it's true. When I purchased my first retf I was pretty oblivious to what goes on, and honestly, am still learning. I suppose that is not too unusual for the average person to end up in the same position.
I had not intended on purchasing a frog the day I found her, nor was I truly prepared (honest truth).
I am very glad I joined this forum. I learn more and more everyday. A lot of the information is not found on care sheets or even in the books. It is through experienced breeders and owners that I have learned the most.
I wish there were books to encompass ALL of the information and care that our frogs and toads need, not just the basics.
I enjoy learning and caring about my babies. They are beautiful creatures . And I love my little pacman too .
Plus, I enjoy meeting and chatting with everyone here. It is nice to be able to share comments, stories and pictures with people who enjoy the same .
P.S. Thanks for all of your help with my retf's! I appreciate the guidance .

Oh yeah, so far Twiggy is doing well. I am hoping she will fill in as time passes. I believe I will keep her in quarantine for about a month, perhaps longer if she still needs time to catch up. It'd be nice to only call her Twiggy as her name and not bc she is so thin.

I just wish there was even a better alternative. Maybe reporting the store (causing it to close or be forced to comply to regulations) AND saving the animals.
I'm glad Twiggy's doing well, and I'm sure she'll fatten up as time passes
Thanks! That's a good idea also. Who do you report them to?

SPCA? that's a possibility...
Twiggy was a really pretty model back in the day (and she aged nicely as well), so that's a good name for your froggie!
And yes, the saving from pet store ends up being a catch 22. They end up getting more frogs to replace the one you just bought, but at the same time sometimes you just can't leave -that- frog there. You just have to make your choice, and if you just love that frog and feel like you have to bring it home, then bring it home. If you have no real feelings for said frog, you just feel really sorry for it, leave it there and report the store to SPCA or some organization like that. Hell, report to PETA if you really want to punish them. Listening to PETA whine is the worst punishment ever.
Thanks! I think her name fits her well. She is a beautiful little frog. I'm sure she'll look even better if she continues to eat well . So far, so good.
I am definitely an animal lover. So many amazing species . I'm always intrigued.
Hmm. I may just have to look into this. .

Just an update....
Twiggy is continues to do well and looks a smidge less skinny, yay! No signs of illness or disease so far. I think she'll do just fine. She has a few more weeks of quarantine yet.
Doing well !
