Of course, I figured that haha. You are not alone, they are officially my favorite froggies.

Yikes! How big were the toads in comparison?

Wow, I only ever go to Petsmart, and they have really nice set-ups for their reptiles. I actually get a lot of info from them...for their tree frogs, they have full-spec bulb for daytime and red for night... they always have crickets and water, and they're hard to see because they have so much foliage to hide in. And they never mix species. If they don't have a proper setup, they keep the critters in the back until their vivarium is ready. I've never seen a critter that needed rescuing from them.

On the other hand, I rescued 150 tadpoles from a jar that my ex was keeping and now they're flourishing....

I am very happy for you and your new additions, I'm sure they will flourish and be happy.

Every PetSmart I've been too took horrible care of their reptiles/amphibians. I have much better luck with PetCo around here - they actually care about the animals. The workers will even bring home sick ones that need a lot of care.

Both petsmart and petco around here are terrible with their animules. The toads were about the same size of the White's, but tneed totally different care :l.

I hate seeing arboreal and terrestrial amphibians housed the same....

My Petsmart and Petco aren't too bad. It's Heartland pets in the mall that is really bad. Wrong enclosures, substrates, housing not only different species, but completely different amphibians with reptiles, etc.

When I stopped yesterday the guy had a baby bullfrog in with his firebelly toads!!! The firebellies secretions will make him sick, but of course, if he grows faster than they do there will be no firebellies in the tank and the bullfrog may get I'll from eating them, ugh! I told the guy. He made no effort to move him while I was there.

he didn't even try to help?? it's a shame that some pet store employees don't care at all about their work. they should be reported

I'm glad you saved it. I once saved a Red eye from a pet store as well. He was living in a 10 gallon aquarium with no water, no subtrate, and a heat lampshining directly on him. He was just laying flat on the bottom of the tank. his skin was dried out and had burns all over his back and was missing parts of his skin. I also bought the two whites tree frogs that were in there who were deathly skinny. They lived for a few days and ate at first but eventually died. I still have that red eye and he has made a great frog.

I must be lucky then, I'm in Miami, FL and all the PetSmarts I've been to here have great vivariums set up for their critters... That's terrible that it's not like that everywhere!

And I'm so happy to hear you rescued that froggies!

My new baby is doing well so far. I believe she is eating, as there are less crickets in her home. She sleeps and wakes properly. I have not found any feces yet. I have offered both small and medium crickets. Her skin and eyes look healthy so far. And she doesn't seem overly stressed. I just got home from work and will check on her soon. Hopefully she has left some poo.

I will take more pictures of her soon. Just giving her some time to adjust.

Depending on how she does, I may keep her in quarantine a little longer than usual to be sure she gets her share of food. She's just so thin.

    Thanks for asking !
