This Picture was taken on 8/2, at this point I had had P5 for exactly 14 days. He was roughly the size of a dime at time of purchase. P5 exhibited excellent growth so I decided to track him.
9/8 , a Little over a month later growth is becoming relevant.
9/24, A lot of growth... to the point that I had to get a weight. 222grams (remember 453gram = 1 lb, so basically half a lb in roughly 2 months lol! )
10/15 Starting to get HUNGRY, I noticed the most growth this point on. 321g. approaching a lb. Roughly 5-6inch nose to butt.
MONSTER . 11/8.... 16 weeks old essentially, 587grams or 1.30 POUNDS!!!!!!!
I havent reviewed anyone's growth charts on these frogs but I find it really hard to believe this growth rate is common lol out of 8 other frogs of the same age P5 really took off. Everytime I look at this frog I am amazed, I keep a scale right next to his cage because i swear to god he grows every night.
16 weeks in or 4 months later I have a frog that is damge close to a pound and a half. Just unbelievable, I cannot wait to watch him continue to grow.
I would like to thank my best bud Joe M who turned me onto these great frogs, he helped me every step of the way and I blame him for the growth I have seen. Without him I would'nt have to feed 2 lbs worth of food to 20 frogs every other day lol.
Hope everyone enjoyed...
Good stuff Mike. That thing is a big frog. I mean, my frog is still bigger, but yours is still pretty impressive.
lol this is not true!I mean, my frog is still bigger,
Wow, that is awesome. That's a great looking frog.
nice frog! looks like a female incase you wanted a male. Females are still awesome though
Females don't croak lol. The picture you see is after i fed him his once monthly rodent which this time ended up being a small rat, so he looks rather wide.nice frog! looks like a female incase you wanted a male. Females are still awesome though

Thanks for thread on growth progress and pics. ABFs grow as fast as weeds!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
WOW that is pretty good growth. mine is about the size of a quarter and im hoping he/she starts growing that fast. he seems to have a pretty laid back attitude compared to mine, imine even attacks the water when i pour it in to his bowl
P5 is a beast. Seems we have some comparison - my male is approximately the same size and age as p5 (Around 4-5 months old; 5-6" svl). This is some great documented growth compared to your others. I kind of would of liked to do this, but I didn't pick my guy up as small as yours was.
I'm curious as to what p5's regimen that he gets (diet, and how often)?
Thats classified information....I'm curious as to what p5's regimen that he gets (diet, and how often)?
just joking, depending upon his meal I give him different amounts of days to digest. From quarter size he was fed a diet of only earth worms daily. As he grew I alternated between earthworms and talapia, still feeding daily. When he was to the size that he could polish off a full can ( 20 worms) by him self, I switched him to talapia only as a staple every day in a half or 36 hours ( I know I know, pathetic lol). As of a few weeks ago I give him 2-3 days to digest, and feed rodents every 3-4 weeks. I pay good attention to his bowel movements because they smell bad lol so I can gage when he needs food. All of my MABF's are very food agressive, my females are much more passive.
Hope that helps !
and thanks for the kind words
Haha. Tilapia, that's interesting. Do you breed them or buy them frozen? That's what I do with my male - give him 2 days to digest. Fed him first frozen-thawed hopper mouse about a month ago, but not going to feed him another one for a couple of months. Interesting that the females aren't voracious, but that makes sense between the differentiation.
Right now my males' staple diet is just large crickets and large night crawlers in abundance with a mouse every couple of months.
Thanks!
Take it easy,
Mark
