Hello guys, thought I'd update you on my boy since I've never really had the honor of introducing him. He's been growing rapidly and croaks most nights. Eel Noob bailed on me to take these pictures so I took them with my phone. After trick or treating last night, you can tell this boy left no candy behind... Haha this is after a long soak and fed last night - 30-50 large crickets and 10-12 large night crawlers. He was very angry with me taking these pics and I was scared he was going to bite me a few times. He's about 4-5" svl and I'm assuming he's 4-5 months old. How does he look?!

He looks diesel!!
4 to 5 months? He looks really big for that age, but hey if he is, more power to em'!!
And 40-50 crickets/nightcrawlers lol? Isn't that a bit OD? Lol, I mean I know nothing about an adult pyxie's appetite so what do I know...But he looks awesome man, I really want a male someday! Good luck w/ him!!
He looks good. That's a lot of food. How often do you feed him? If it's too often, you're going to need a second job.
he looks good but looks like one of those Captive Bred giants that tops out at 6-7.5 inches and then seems like their growth gets stunted. The only captive breds i have ever seen over 7 inches are OBESE,fat, lazy and unhealthy. Thats pretty sad because these guys get 9-10 inches in the wild.
I picked him up in the beginning of August when he was around a 2-3 months old. So that's why I'm assuming he's between the ages of 4-6 months old juvenile.
Dude he eats so much it's ridiculous - this is for 15-20 minutes as much as he can eat and then he's content. That's when he gives me the cue to set him back in his tank (I feed him in a separate bin). I know he's not obese and he digests all his food easily in a couple of days... After that he defecates a whirlwind in his bowl. Also I add into his diet a frozen-thawed hopper once every couple of months.
Thanks. You'll get one, don't worry.
Thanks. Yeah it is haha; he eats every 2 nights for 15-20 minutes in a seperate bin. I go through 250 crickets and a 25 night crawler tub a week with him. I'm kind of relying on my parents right now - they're supportive. I do feel bad though because he's costly for feeding (I get allowance money at home that barely covers the cost of his food).
Lol, ok anti captive bred pixie frogs. Go back to South Africa.
its cool ill expect him to be about 6.5 7 inches max fully grown. Thats what you call Stunted Growth
Are you part of PETA bro? What's your deal. Next post you make is being reported.
i know nice pixie man i was about to ask to post pics of your pixie
Ceratophyrs and African Bullfrog Keeper For Life
Send him my way so I can get some better pix for you
Have you thought of a name for that badboy yet?
Chomp - the record size for one of these frogs is about 10 inches. Most wild individuals rarely get to 8 inches. I don't know where you're getting your information from but it's obviously not solid.
On another note, please stop giving each other attitude (Mark). I keep having to come into the "Fat frog" topics with my nanny hat on because of the antics that go on. Please try to be constructive, not destructive!

hes looking good, I like the pattern on his side/back, the blueish tint pattern.
Sound's like you need that dubia colony going so you can get off those lame crickets. Then he will really explode in size once he starts getting them dubia.
Funny how light green he is is compared to junk. Maybe because junk burrow's so much?
Yeah, I know right. Crickets drive me crazy compared to dubia. Some of the pigmentation varies between these frogs - some will be lighter and others will be darker. He spends a great deal of time soaking in his water dish so I'm sure some of the environmental factors plays a part in his lightening of the skin. Colors stand out more once they shed; could be since she spends so much time in the dirt. Thanks.
When my girl was burrowing all the time she was a dark green, but when I put her in her the water setup she turned a really light green. I think it has something to do with their environment.
Yeah; that's good to know. Now she's in an all water setup so you're probably only seeing one phase of colors. Aren't you upgrading the tank as well?
Looks great to me Mark! Can't wait for my juvenile to get that big!
Thanks Mentat! Yeah, fun watching him grow.
