Ok I am new to the frog world, I bought 5 red eye tree frogs about 3 months ago. Tonight one from climbed on the back of the other, it wasnt the full blown mating mount but almost. one on the back was making a loud noise and the one on the bottom was making a low noise. I am wondering if this is my frogs getting ready to breed or if its a show of dominance. Any input would be extremely helpful. I own every book known to man about these frogs but none go that far into details about the actual breeding ritual.

If the one on the other ones back is smaller then it's definitely a male, and they usually do make noise when trying to attract females. Look up amplexus online, if it looks like that, then yes your frogs were mating. Taking on this is a huge commitment, frogs lay a ton of eggs usually on leafs that over hang water so that when eggs hatch the tadpoles slide down into the water. Since u already have five, I'm not sure you would want to take on the responsibility of possible having hundreds more, it's a lot of work and very time consuming.
I just adopted two baby red eyes that are the size of pennies and they are enough work since I already have two semi adults. I have to keep them separate from my adults or risk them getting ate.
Red eyes typically mate during the rainy season usually that is now, so if you're tank is extremely wet, they are going to want to mate. I would say cut back on how often you mist or if u use some sort of rain maker I would turn it on less. I mist once or twice a day and my male calls just about every night, but my female is not interested and I'm guessing it's because it's not quite wet or "rainy" enough for her... And that's fine with me, because I have my work cut out for me now with my two new baby red eyes that I'm trying to nurse to health.
I hope this helps
Just want to add, that even if they are in amplexus, it's not (unfortunatly) at all garantueed that the female will lay eggs. Other than that, the previuos poster sums it up good!
