    Default Finally passed stool.

My frog hadn't defecated in quite some time. I picked her(?) up out of her enclosure so I could clean it. She had a visible firm lump on one side. I had the fear. I placed her in the bucket with warm water to wait. Then she finally pooped for the first time since she came into my care, which is approx. one month or slightly more. I was as relived as she must have felt. I'm not sure what caused it. I'm gonna have to change some things. I did notice undigested cricket parts in the stool.
But basically my frog pooped, and is now much smaller and is acting much healthier. Hooray.

Glad to hear that! What does her diet consist of? Make sure that the temp stays up 80-85 during the day and 75-78 at night as temp affects digestion. Keep us updated.

Thanks. I was starting to become really concerned because her appetite was slowing down. It used to be nightcrawlers but I can't get them at the moment because of the time of year. Now she eats crickets for the most part. I have been using Can 'O Crickets because it's just easier than live ones. It stays between 70-80. I may have to relocate her to a different part of the house.

I transfer all my frogs into water only enclosures once a week. They all usually defecate within 24hrs. They are similiar to most venomous snakes I've kept. By putting them in water it gets them to move more than usual and helps them defecate.

She does receive weekly or bi-weekly warm water soaks. Do you leave them in the water enclosure until they defecate or is it a 15-30 minute soak and then they are returned to the terrestrial enclosure?

I leave them in there usually for 24 hrs. A sterilite tub from walmart works great. Put a heat pad on one side of the tub and about a 1/4 in of water. I have a rack system that i do this for 40 frogs and it works great.

Sounds solid. I will definitely be trying this. Thanks.

Its not a bad idea for them to be in water for a change. I have an issue with substrate and now i keep this guy in water with liquid calcium, vitamins. Just make sure the temps remain the same.
