I went to petsmart on sunday and went to look at the reptile section. Well what did i happent to see but the one frog i have been looking for for a few months. there he/she was a baby pyxie frog. i didnt even hesitate i bought it. i know most people have a dislike for petsmart but luckily our petsmart actualy takes pretty good care of there animals. i will say that this little guy is very very feisty. the lady did say that she made the mistake of stticking a pacman in the same tank temporarly and before she new it the pyxie swallowed it up. He even so much as jumps at me at times if i get to close. im so happy he is healthy and fiesty plus i know he eats as i threw in a few crickets and bam he gobbled the up.
Cool!!! That is a goal of mine: find a Pixie at Petsmart or Petco. Nice looking killer you have there.
The little thing has some mega eyes. Nice fine!
the petco we have here is very pathetic. the reptiles are def not a priority at this store. i was surprised how wel our petsmart takes care of the reptiles and frogs. plus the price was very good and i didnt have to pay shipping lol
Cool moghue. That's awesome you got a very healthy pixie from Petsmart (feel bad for the pacman it ate though). That's some interesting bedding you got there for your pixie; is it leaf litter and sphagnum moss?
yep its got coconut coir underneath then some sphagnum moss and leaf litter im trying to make him as comfortable as possible he also has a big bowl of water in the other half of his enclosure. yea i feel bad for the pacman frog also. i did tell them that they should never mix frogs of any kind together and that they def need to not put anything in with a pixie as they would more then likely eat it.
I'm sure you already know, but just be careful feeding around the moss. Don't want anything to happen to your little guy. Have fun raising him or her, take it easy.
nice pyxie. looks great. u sure it isnt a dawf pyxie
im pretty sure its not a dwarf pixie from looking at other babys im pretty positive its not a dwarf. i learned the hard way about feeding frogs around moss when i lost a pacman a few years ago but thanks for the info
