I've read the excelent African Bullfrog Care Article (Frog Forum - African Bullfrog - Pyxicephalus adspersus - Care and Breeding) and also the Nutritional Value Food Chart (Caudata Culture Articles - Nutritional Values) at Caudata. Currently feeding my juvenile mostly big earthworms and crickets. My frog is a great eater, so one day tried a thawed 2 in. smelt fish (find them at Asia market for human consumption) and the frog ate it with no problem.
So been thinking if it's OK to include in African Bullfrog diets whole small fish (like smelt or lance) which are nutritious (not feeder goldfish)? How about whole or cut up prawns (with or without shell)?
I have those items at freezer to supplement my large fish diet of staple pellets, so it's very convenient if my African Bullfrog could benefit from them too. Thank you for reading and please do include your comments and ideas in regards to subject.

Freezing your fish is good - communicable diseases caused by parasites won't survive. They do have nutritional value that benefits us just like them, but these frogs don't come across fish very often and should only be fed as variety in their diet, i.e. once a week. Fish can cause kidney and liver problems or failure if these are fed too often to your frog.
Some people feed cooked shrimp that you can buy in the bags in the freezer section of a market. If you were to feed prawns, definitely without the shell, but I don't think that prawns are easily digestible considering they have the long legs and those long feelers that come off their head.
Thank you for information Mark! That is important data to know.
