Hello,
My name is Joe and I am fairly new to frogs, although I have been involved in many other aspects of animal husbandry for most of my life. We inherited two Bombina orientalis from my daughters kindergarten class. And I saw this page in my research and though it would be a great place for ideas and information.

Fire Belly Toads (Bombina orientalis) are a very interesting amphibian! What do you currently have them housed in?

Well,
Since I unexpectedly had them given to me by my daughters school (i also keep snakes, tarantulas, geckos, fish so they thought I needed more) I have them in a spare 5 gallon tank with some rock islands and wood. This weekend I will be doing some work on a 10 gallon and doing 50/50 land water area with some live plants, anubias in the water and pothos on land for now.
Wow! That sounds like it's going to be a great set-up! What do you plan to use for substrate? The 50/50, IMHO, is the best set-up possible for FBT's, especially if you have both terrestrial and aquatic plants.
What have you been feeding them?
Oh, and just a tip, when you do finish the 50/50 set-up, put some small guppies in the water, the firebellies love to try and catch them!

Hey Royce,
Right now I am just feeding medium sized crickets. However I also have acces to mealworms and superworms. Do you just set them in a dish in the terrestial area of the enclosure?
