New to forum and to keeping frogs. Son found site when I told him on phone had bought a Pixie and he was looking for pics to figure out what a Pixie was. Good information here; loved the "Care Article" section.
Here is my Pixie, got it last weekend and already eating well and growing.
Currently housed in a 10 gal. fish tank I had around (been keeping both freshwater & saltwater fish for 48 years) with a wire mesh top that supports a double 60W bulb fixture (blue on during day and red at night). Diet is daily alternating feedings of live large earthworms, thawed fish (dusted inside mouth cavity), and crickets. Have calcium and vitamin supplements too and use them every other meal. Going with water based tank and due to frog size, do daily water changes. Once it grows a bit will set-up a nicer system with filtration, heater, and the works.
Couple doubts I have:
1. Store said it was a possible male due to bumps in back area behind eyes. Is that a true indicator or not? They did show me 2 other Pixies with no bumps.
2. Have around 1/2 in. of water on tank, is that good for a 2 in. frog? Mouth is above water when it "squats" down.
Thank you!
