Question about Pixies

I've been checking out the 3-4 Pixie frogs that the local exotic pet store has and was wondering if they got real big or if they got just a bit bigger than a Pacman frog does. They look right cute and interesting (the ones at the store have white/light green stripes on their backs, very pretty).

Similar in size, but the Pyxie frogs will take the cake. Males can get up to 10-12 inches! This isn't common but does happen. You shouldn't need more then a 20-40 gallon tank to accommodate a male.

10"-12"? Big frog, the ones at the store that I saw must have been babies because they could fit in my hand (my hand is 5 1/2").

Second largest frogs in the world right underneath the Rana Goliath so you tell me if they are big or not. Depends which pacman you are talking about - female ornates can reach 8-9".

CapoJames has a male ornate that's about a 8" I believe. Female pixies average out about the same size as a full grown cranwelli, just more body mass. Male pixies will definitely surpass the pacman species with the exception of a few female ornates that reach relatively the same size.

You'll find pixies to be a lot more voracious with food, something to think about before purchasing one. You'll be surprised at the quantities of food they can consume on a regular basis.

Picture might help. Could be a dwarf pyxie you are looking at. there colors are much more unique, and they don't grow as large.

Pyxies are a very unique frog!
