My family and I are moving from Iowa to Virginia. The total trip is going to take 3 days. We have two fire bellied toads and I am clueless on how to transport them. We won't be driving straight through - we will be staying at hotels/friend's home the two nights we will be on the road. Right now they are in a 10 gallon tank with a few inches of water and land. My son would be devastated if anything happened to them. I will take any and all suggestions!
Thank you!
You could over-night ship them to said friends house/hotel. Or you could keep the tank on your lap for the ride. Gimme a few, I'm trying to think of something..
I'd put them in a small critter keeper with some wet moss on the bottom.
Buy a small 2.5 Gallon Kritter Keeper (Can be bought at most pet supply stores) and line the bottom with wet paper towles and damp moss (As mentioned by badkelpie).
This will keep their humidity relatively high.
Just feed them like normal, and they'll be fine.
I agree, keep them in a small Kritter Keeper. Have some de-chlorinated water on hand to. If you buy crickets before hand you could store them in the trunk. Pack away the ten gallon with a few fake rocks and plants. Then whenever you stop off at a house/hotel set up just a basic quickie habitat.
