    Default Hello from Cumming, GA!

Hi Everyone! I stumbled across your forum while doing some searches and it definitely looked like a great place for information, networking, etc. Anyone who loves frogs is a friend of mine!

I currently don't own any frogs, but am interested in finding one to introduce to my 16 month old son. He absolutely loves frogs and animals in general and is such a gentle soul. I know he will greatly appreciate having a frog in the house.

For the first 18 years of my life, I spent hours a day (literally hours!) traversing our swamps, ponds and lakes around our home in rural upstate New York finding some truly amazing frogs. I miss that connection and so would like to get back into the 'hobby'. I really want to be able to share my love and joy of these fascinating creatures with my children.

Hope to meet some like minds here.

    Cheers!

    Jonathon

My grandkids love my frogs... but the only one I let them touch is the bullfrog... he is hearty at 1 1/2 lbs. For watching the White Dumpys move during the day a bit and have big eyes which add some personality... my favorites are the red eyes... but they sleep 99.5 % of the time... but when they walk they are about as impressive as I can imagine and very colorful. Good luck... and I have found frog collecting is addictive.

Thanks all for the nice welcome.

Tom, I'm heavily leaning towards getting a baby male African Bullfrog. I've been interested in getting one for years but the timing wasn't right. For the most part they appear to be relatively easy to maintain (especially compared to other pets/reptiles I've owned in the past). I also plan on breeding my own worms which my wife will love for the compost and the frog will love for, well, the worms! I was thinking about having a few bins with European Nightcrawlers, African Nightcrawlers and perhaps some Red Wigglers. That should make a perpetual supply of a staple food and then I could supplement with other goodies here and there.
