I am setting up a tank and I was wondering if poison dart frogs (of the dentrobates family) need water. I thought they only need it for breeding but I want to make sure.

No the tank just needs to maintain a high humidity level. Small dishes of water that you see in people's dart tanks are usually for tad deposit sites.
