I have a wild toad who has taken up residence in my barn. I have enjoyed its company all summer, but now that it is getting cold, I'm concerned that it should go outside & hibernate. It spends most of the daylight hours behind a large metal water trough on a concrete floor. I have taken it outside several times only to find it back behind the trough the following day. Should I leave it alone or move it far enough away that it can't return? I'd hate for it to freeze because it can't burrow underground.
Thanks.
