hello, my american toad just jumped out of some artificial plants and now one of his back legs is locked up, the herp vet is hours away, i dont know what to do, hes very twitchy and i think hes in pain, hes a male, and is about 4 years old
i wont let him suffer long, i have tried moving the leg, i can get him to pull it in, then then he pushes it back out, and he drags it around with one leg hanging out, this happened about 15 minutes ago, i just check and now both legs are locked up, and there is white fluild coming from his legs, also his underside is very red ,
nevermind he just passed away, its almost like he had a stroke, someone told me it could have been a nutrient deficiency, but it came on too fast for that, i guess ill never know
I'm sorry for your loss .

Could he have eaten anything poisonous in the tank? Or a spider bite?
Sorry for your loss. :-(

did you recently clean his tank?
do you use soap or anything besides water to clean its waterbowl?
That is very sad. To have one for 4 years then it goes that fast. Hope some one can help you figure out what happened so others can maybe avoid this.
he was eating store bought crickets and super worms, i cleaned the cage about 3 weeks ago, my other toad, cuban tree frog, and grey tree frog, and yellow spotted salamander are all ok, i have had someone tell me i cant have all these frogs together, but the water gets cleaned every 3 days, and i use a charcoal fish tank filter system, if you cant tell in the pics he was a big toad, palm sized ( minus fingers)
