Welcome Hasher. You got good taste, I like the bullfrog Rana and Pyxicephalus family a lot. That's cool that you guys did a rescue mission, good work. I hope your little one is a boy too, time will tell.
figured I have been reading here I may as well join up. It all started this June when we had a massive T-storm that flooded the pond and flushed a few hundred bullfrog tadpoles out the drain. Me and my boys saved as many as we could and re-distributed them after the rain subsided. We kept two that had rear legs and have been enjoying he/she everyday since.
and is now
Thought it was female since the white belly and lower jaw, but calls every night. I read females can speak, but this is a croak for sure. hoping the color comes in soon because I really wanted a male anyways, but have been calling it a her everyday.
Then along comes this guy,
again hoping for a male (like most everyone else) but will take whatever it is.

yeah I am sure the kids will never forget that day, it was so amazing to see them out there trying to catch those slippery little buggers, they were turning pro at the end of it. The last few weekends we have been going out after dark and doing some catch and release of the big ones that are still hanging out near the shore.
welcome to the forum. Good save.
