if anyone remembers me i joined this forum because i caught a american toad and i wanted to keep it. my american toad ( his names toado ) has gone through a few cages but now hes in his final 10 gallon. it has coconut fiber thats about 4 - 6 inches deep ( it has hills and all that ). hes been burying himself alot too. he also has a little pool made out of a plastic container but i will be changing that to a bigger more natural looking pool soon. and right now for decor he has a twig and a few rocks. i was wondering what i could get for him to hide in or under. i think he burrows all the time because he doesnt have lots of decorations to hide in. so what could i use? twigs , rocks , tree bark , live plants? oh and what kind of live plants could i put in their? i put his cage next to my window so that i dont have to leave the lights on and so he can have real sunlight.
I recommend the hollowed out have logs (smaller ones would be branches I guess) that you can get from pet stores. They will also hide under bark too, and you can ever purchase artificial mini caves. As for plants, since the toad will burrow quite a bit, I suggest you go for something that you can leave in a pot. If you use real plants you're going to have to provide adequate light for them - the window might not cut it.
