    John,
Your are so dependable , thanks. I am trying to be careful.

I put the water 1/2 back in when I got home from work today ( see original set-up pics).
I am going with my gut. Also, my frogs have been a little less active?

It just seemed very dry on top and cold on the bottom without the heated/filtered/covered water
( covered water- so my dumb red eyes don't flail themselves into the water and drown). It was a challenge to maintain the heat at night. The heated water 1/2 eliminates this problem completely.

The enclosure is tall. The nice moist air that rises from 1/2 water in this enclosure seems to stabilize the temp and humidity in the entire enclosure? I think this size tank is new for exo-terra. It's size, in height and width, makes it difficult to maintain consistency throuhout the entire enclosure- without all their $$ gear for lighting and heating. I have several plants in this enclosure as well. Otherwise, the tank is constructed very nicely.

    Thanks again , Lynn

    Thanks George,
I'm happy with the Extech. The probe hangs into the enclosure is about 18" long.
I purchased it on Amazon. If you are interested , it would be easy to find --or I could send you the info for a purchase.
