d3!!!!
Thanks guys. Would it be smart to culture the worms or just buy them? I know their feedings should be dusted, but is there just one type/kind that I can give to all of my frogs?
Also, what can I feed to a newly morphed leopard frog? It's still a tadpole, and I know they don't eat untill their tail is gone. Plus, it only has back legs so far. And I'll tell y'all something else. I've NEVER seen a tadpole that had a head that can hide a nickel, and that is 3 in long! But I am prepared to have half and half tank for it, whenever it decides to become a 4-legged critter.
earthworms could be culture at almost no cost. it'll be a lot better than spend $5 every week for just 20 of them. plus you will love them to death if u love gardening too. their poop is the best organic fertilizer you would find.
No green thumb for gardening here! But I do have to say that I've saved a frog in more ways than one, so does that give me a different type of green thumb? lol
I know some people use the little rolly polly bugs or whatever they're called to help clean their setups. How long do they have to be quaritined (sp?) before I can put them in my tanks, and is it ok if the frogs eat them?
u dont need a green thumb to culture earthworm, just a normal thumb is good enough lol. they are easy enough to maintain. a bucket with cover big enough to hold them. some substrate that's wet to touch but not water logged, i use the old one cleaned out from my frog's tank+some dirt from back yard "without any type chemical", feed them vege scrap left from kitchen. keep it dark, room temperature, and that's it lol!! ...i might type up a more detail one latter when i received my new worms latter tonight or tomorrow.
the rolly polly bugs!! i actually like the name this way. isn't it a lot easier to understand what you are talking about than calling it isopod or woodlice? if it's chemical free wherever you collect them I believe it's fine to just toss them in(correct me if it is not lol!) it's ok if your frog eats them. they work the same way as springtail, cleaning the tank, snack for the frog. which reminds me....I need to go dig some up latter lol.
The only issue I have with feeding earth worms or whatever ya want to call them...... I have 3 small frogs, and I'd be worried the worms are a bit way too big for them. Now I have 2 adult amgtf who sometimes has issues with the large crickets. Either the legs or the things sticking out of their rear. But I think those 2 will be ok with earths but I really don't know about the rest. Guess I could chop the worms up an use tongs if I have to eh? Lol
The rolly Polly bugs came from my yard. We use no chemicals or pesticides or anything. Some were found on a pice of cardboard box from my daughters toddler bed. Some were found on a tree. I have offered the rp bugs once and to do a lil cleanup and it seems my frogs loved them. The bugs didn't get to do much cleaning lol
Thanks for all the help!!!
