    Default New toad tank!

I was going to wait a little while to upgrade my toad tank, but today I saw an offer I just couldn't refuse (new 20-gallon long for $18.) The floor space has doubled from the old tank. The toads are still pretty tiny and don't need the room yet, but when they are adults, this should be just right. I think the tank is looking a little plain, so I might get some fake plants to put against the back wall. Not sure if plastic or silk is the way to go though.

Is that coco-fibre substrate? How does that works vs. soil or sand? Will plants grow in it?

    Thanks,

Yes, it is. I used moist dirt at first but I like the coco better. Mold-resistant, low impaction risk, all that. It's very light and loose, so I doubt it would support most plants enough for them to stand up.

A local pet store. Most of them should carry it.

I use the coco substance, as well! It does work really good. My frog loves to burrow deep into it and, it stays moist for a long time.
I love the setup. Cute toads!

Some fresh toad pics to share today. I've had them for nearly five months, and they are still only about 1 inch long. Maybe I got miniature toads?

Thanks. Last week I added some leafy vine around the hide and water bowl to make it more lush and natural. Spoiled, my warty children are.

The vines are certainly a good idea May I ask how many gallons your tank is?

    Did that answer your question?

Great photos Pete! They are soooooooo cute!!! Ohh, I'm sure their growth spurt is comming!

Just look at Bufo's gains over 3 months time, I think he's in his "growth spurt stage" now, because, I swear, I can see differences in him weekly!

    Month one:

    Month two:

Month three (taken a couple days ago):

    They'll come around!
