Here is a picture of the three pixies that I bought from Jela's Phat Phibs:
Cool man, they look super healthy. You're already housing the babies together no problem?
There doesn't seem to be any problems. Should I be looking out for something?
I just read somewhere that the babies tend to be more cannibalistic then ones at an older stage. If they are in the right conditions as you have them housed already, then I'm sure it is fine. Have fun raising those, I wish I could get more like you... Looks awesome.
Well, shoot, I am going to have to separate them. That would not be cool.
I am going to have to find a place for all my frogs. I am taking over a lot of the house.
Yeah keeping them in separate Rubbermaid containers or whatever you're using would be a good idea... Quarantine them for awhile, then move them back in with each other when they're a bit older. That way there's no competition for food, babies just eat and eat. If you can't separate them that's cool, I would just keep a very close eye on them.
i wanted to place an order but shipping was 60+
anyone want to put in a order with me???
Jcal, you must live out west. Overnight shipping is murder out there!! What we can do to offset the cost of shipping is offer you quantity discounts on your purchase to help soften the blow. Our pyxies are $29.95 and we can get (3) in our smallest packing box. If you would like to move forward with an order of (3), then I will discount them to $25 each and you will save $15. Just an ideal. I wish shipping was cheaper but it is just not. Overnight shipping is the only way that we can guarantee a safe arrival for these guys. If this is something that interests you (or anyone else) email me at info@jelasphatphibs.com Today and tomorrow are the last days that we can ship before the NARBC show in Tinley. More then likely they will all be sold this weekend at the show so now is the time to get them if you are considering!!
@Jeff. You guys are affiliated with Ship Your Reptiles, arent you? That probably drives the price up a little dealing with overnight shipping, at least you can assure everyone perfectly safe arrivals with gurantees. That's a good deal Jcal.
Jeff Kennedy for the win! guy knows his stuff! Everyone should buy from him.
You gotta make it socal
Hey Mark,
We broke away from that months ago. We obviously know how to package our own stuff as we have shipped successfully in about every temperature range imaginable. We now buy or own supplies and have a direct account with UPS. This is the absolute cheapest way that we can do it. We do lose a lot of business out west because it is just so far away from us that UPS charges us an arm and a leg. It is just the way that it is. There is no "set" fee. When you see some of the larger chains (LLL Reptile, BigApple, etc.) that charge flat rates of $45 and whatnot, they are basically choosing to set that. If BigApple (located in NY) ships something a couple of states over, they charge $45 for overnight shipping but it might only end up costing them $35. Then if they ship a package to CA and charge $45, it ends up costing upwards of $70. They win and they lose some but at the end of the quarter, it probably all evens out. They can take this chance because they are million dollar operations. We unfortuneately are not and have to exercise damage control and charge what we are charged. The software on our site is integrated within UPS's own software and the price that is charged is based upon location. Trust me. I have been round and round with all of the shippers and there just isn't a set fee on premium, overnight shipping service. I can only hope that our hard work and amazing product will induce more people to bite the bullet and spend a little more on shipping when they know that in the end, their experience is going to be much more pleasurable and the animal will be healthy and robust!!
Ah ok, that makes sense. Yeah I can see why you guys do what you do, the amount of effort and quality of work I've seen from you guys is awesome. Customer satisfaction and healthy herps are incomparable to large chains. I, unfortunately bought my pixie a couple months ago from LLL... Would of bought from you guys, I just didn't know about you guys then. That's a definitely a better route since you guys have a lot of experience of the do's and dont's instead of paying a lot of extra money on a supplier. Thanks for clarifying.
Does anyone know if LLL gets their frogs from the wholesaler FrogRanch like Jela's does? Makes sense if they're the largest wholesaler of pixies in the US.
ugh, super jealous of you now, haha.
How many pyxies are you up too now?
I will also be ordering a pyxie from jeff!
Rob
I have nine pixies now. But I can stop any time I want to.![]()
You guys are cowboys.lol Jeff is the way to go all the way!!!!!! If you can get more people to share the shipping . That would make a hell of a difference. Nice pixies guys on both ends.
