Hey guys!
First off I would like to thank you guys for your help so far with my pacman! I'm loving this little dude! I've been feeding him small night crawlers, and he seems to be enjoying them. I was just wondering how many worms an average silver dollar sized pacman can consume in one feeding? I offered him one the first time, but tonight I gave him a second one. Is 1 to 2 normal?
Instead of amounts they can consume, I go by Johns method for this. Feed them for 15-20 minutes as much as they can eat. If he seems content before 15-20 minutes then you're good, much easier to keep track of.
My new guy has been eating 3-4 crickets a day, depending on the size of the crickets.
Mine is a half dollar size and it eats two 1" crickets a night
What ever he can eat in 15 min. If he had his fill then you'll see him jump away. Looses interest for now.
Alright thanks guys!
I was told at one time these guys will just keep eating if you let them, so thats why I was asking. I had a pacman when I was younger and killed it from what I thought was overfeeding. This guy seems nice and healthy and I just want to keep it that way. Thanks again guys!
Generally a Pacman Frog can't eat enough to harm itself catching his own food in 15-20 minutes, babies feed every day to every other day, and adults feeding 3-4 times a week (sometimes less is fine). If you think your Pacman Frog is eating too many crickets, you can always ask. I am just saying that it is very hard to do any harm overfeeding following this guideline.
So I have a similar question. My pacman is about three to four inches across. I have been feeding him night crawlers they are about 4 inches long. I have fed him up to 3 at a time. I think he will keep eating. Should I feed him everyday at this size if he will eat. Does the same feed them till they stop rule apply if you are tong feeding them? Lastly, are night crawlers a good staple food. I put a little calcium dust on them every other time.
@Ribbit, at 3-4 svl length... He doesn't need to eat every day, 2-3 days a week is plenty. Only the young ones need to eat everyday. Night crawlers are an excellent staple diet. Yes the same 15-20 minute rule applies if you're tong feeding. Night crawlers have one of the best protein:fat ratio and a good calcium: phosphorus ratio as well. If you're only going to be feeding one staple diet, it is recommended to give some variety bi-weekly.
thanks Mark,
This frog can seriously eat. I fed him two night crawlers last night. I went to pour a little water on his substrate tonight and he jumped and chomped at the water sound so I fed him two more. I think if I feed him till he wont eat any more he will eat the whole box of worms.
