    Default Frogluver's Woodland vivarium

Well, here it is.....my Woodland vivarium for my Wood frog vocalization project! It's nothing too spectacular though, at least not as extrodinary as SludgeMonkey's Woodland viv lol. I set up my other terrariums following the procedure below, which I learned from a book titled Terrarium Cage Construction and Care. Enjoy .

Here is the 10 gal empty tank and some of the plants I used:

Some more plants to choose from lol (spagnum moss, red spagnum moss, white shrub-like moss, cranberry plants):

To start, I put down an inch layer of pourous rock, for part of the filtration system:

Next, I put a layer of conditioning material on top of the rock to finish the filtration system:

About 2 inches of coconut fiber soil was placed on top of the filtration system (love coconut soil lol):

I put this piece of wood on the soil layer to make sure it was secure and didn't tip over on top of Wood frogs:

Tada!! 1 hour and half from start to finish; I'm all done ! Now time to start my project!

That's so awesome you just gather your supplies in their natural habitat. Looks professional, very cool project. Good job.

Looks great!! The moss should do good since the eco earth substrate is acidic.

Looks amazing! I wanted to do a similar tank for my toads but didn't want them ingesting any moss!

    Once again, really nice set-up!

Autumn i don't know where to start. First of all the setup is more then beautiful. Second you did an excellent job illustrating the project. Its so user friendly that i can even do it.lol . Third where did you get the plants. Are they all wild.Did you have to buy them. The driftwood is unique. You are very lucky to live in an area surrounded with all the good things you need for free. Going to buy every thing from the smallest pebble takes the fun out of it. Nothing like going out to the woods or beach and collecting your own decorations. I'm sure thats part of the fun.

George, thank you so much for your kind words and compliments !!! Yes, all the materials (minus the filtration system :P) I collected from the wild. I collected the plants and driftwood from around my house and near the pond where I captured my Wood frogs. And you are very right, collecting all the materials is a huge part of all the fun !
