I had just fed my little buddy and thought I'd update his measurements to see how he's growing. I pulled out my measuring card and laid it next to him for him to hop onto and I guess my finger looked yummy, yikes!
Tank has never bit at me before. It startled me. Thank goodness he's just a little tike yet, lol! Only little baby serrated teeth. Didn't hurt, just made me jump. He didn't let go right away.
Tank measures at 2.5" now. He's growing so quickly.
Cute little stinker!
So I guess a word of advice would be to not stick your cute little fingers in the tank just after feeding your pacman.
Here's a picture of my baby.

Awesome! I was at the local pet store the other day and they had a huge tortoise. He had to be 18" in diameter. He was so cool! How big is yours? Any pictures?

Russians are small. His shell is about 6-7 " in diameter. He lives in a tortoise table near my frogs!

It's the element of surprise that gets you. They are so cute at this age hanging on your finger. Today im off. I heading out east to get driftwood and plants for my planted tank.
Torts are cool.
When Malcolm was just half-dollar size, I think he was obsessed with the idea of biting my finger. I'd hand feed him a cricket and WHAM! I have a baby frog hanging from my finger. He just never attacked when I had in my hand, just my fingers. Maybe that is why he never liked tong feeding.
I wanted a Sulcata tortoise, but my dad was worried that there wouldn't be anyone to take care of the little guy after it outlives me LOL. Sulcatas get HUGE so I couldn't argue with that.
Awe! Just a little guy![]()

Lol! Yeah, I sure wasn't ready for that one. It was kinda funny though. For me to jump like that over a little frog.

The tortoise we saw was walking around and around his pen like a walker on a track. Cute!
Yeah, you'd have to have another caregiver lined up.

Funny! My finance and I always joke that we will have Grif and Babypac at our wedding wearing little top hats and bow ties. Obviously we're not going to actually do that to our frogs, but the mental image is cute. You would probably lose fingers in the process. Plus you wouldn't be able to see the bow tie under someone's chubby chin! Haha
Anyway Heather, did your measuring card have any metal? We just measured Grif the other day (4 inches!) and he as very annoyed by the tiny metal piece at the end of the tape measure. No bites, but he snaps at pretty much any metallic/reflective thing he sees. I think he associates "shiny" with the forceps. I take my ring off sometimes when I see him start staring at it... just in case! Never been bitten but it still startles me sometimes how fast they can move. Even when I am hold food in front of them with the forceps; I know it's coming and it will still startle me how fast that chubby boy can lunge!
Lol! No, but I was wearing my white gold wedding band. Could that be why?

Possibly, I'm not sure. I've just noticed that shiny things seem to aggravate them especially when the lighting is brighter. Most of the time when I am by my pacs I will just have a little lamp on that is on the other side of the room (enough light for me to see what I'm doing while I'm feeding them or whatever). But it is when I occasionally have the big overhead light on the Grif seems to zoom in on whatever shiny thing he can find and he gets that gleam in his eyes... that's when I watch my fingers lol!
Lol!!!! And...chomp!
I'll try and keep the lights dimmer.

It's just a theory. Obviously finger casualties are fairly common with pacmans, but I try not to go looking for trouble.
True. I'd rather like to keep all of mine![]()
I guess I hadn't expected him to try to nibble until he got older.
