Default Advice on Judas, my fantasy frog.

ok, so ive had judas (my fantasy frog) since march and he has been fabulous up until rrecently. About two and half weeks ago he stopped eating and began burring himself completely... he never did that before. He also has his eyes closed- all the time! I know they can go weeks without food but it is starting to concern me. His eyes are super dialated and when he emerges from his whole all he does is whipe himself, like he is shedding. Judas is super thin and his legs almost look as if they are losing their color. any advice is much appreciated.
    thanks

ps- i'm loving the site- lots of helpful info!

Don't mess with him he is aestavating (not spelled right) (hibernating for frogs) Just make sure he has a full water bowl and it stays humid.

you see i would think it was aestivation if he stayed burried, but he comes up a night and i hear him banging on the glass of his cage. in the morning hes back burried. also he is most likely not even a year old yet and to my knowledge only adults aestivated, but i think that could be it.

I think they just like burrowing then.

Hi there, It does concerns me that you think that Judas has lost weight. Maybe you should take Judas to the Vet. Hopefully someone else may be able to help you here on the Forum.

Judas is definitely ill and needs to see a vet ASAP. Super thin, not eating, eyes closed all the time, those are major red flags to me!

Kurt and Ebony are correct. His weight and lack of appetite are the give-away signs. Something in the way you are keeping him has stressed him - in all likelihood it has been an ongoing stress. At this point he probably has a bacterial or viral infection brought on from that stress. Take him to the vet asap.
