Got a couple of green tree frogs a few weeks ago and am thinking about cleaning the terrarium.
I change the water every other day, but haven't done a proper clean yet. To be honest, it doesn't seem in great need of a clean, but I know I should!
They have coco husk - how often does this need to be changed??
And this may sound like a silly question, but what's the best way to get the frogs out? They've only just settled in (took them a good couple of weeks to settle and they're still not eating a great deal) and I want to cause them minimal stress. I'm even putting off cleaning the terrarium because I don't want to stress them out and have to restart the settling in process again! I kept the very small see through container that they came in with moss in - would that be okay to pop them in whilst I clean?
do you have live plants ? if so no cleaning is necessary, except for pooper scooping and water changes, also mist and wipe glass as needed.
In my experience, all but the largest tree frog terrariums do need occasional maintenance (every couple of months). For the coconut husk, remove it and replace it with new coconut husk.

Thanks, that puts my mind to rest knowing that I'm not a bad owner leaving it a bit longer! We have no live plants so makes it a lot easier
John, how often should we change the coco husk? And when we do get round to doing a proper serious clean, what's the best way to move the frogs? Cheers![]()
"How often" depends how how much substrate and how many frogs. Once every 3 months maybe?
Moving frogs - just gently catch them in your hands and put them in a sealed plastic container. Don't leave them in there obviously.
