WIll 2 - butanone oxime be harmful to frogs once cured and completey set and left for 48hrs with dirt over the top of it??
Obviously the layer will be foam, then the brown silicone then the dirt.... this is the link: Interior and Exterior Frame Silicone Sealant - Brown from Homebase.co.uk
If thats no good there is another one that says it has minimul VOC (cant guarantee there will be none i guess.. but can any have that guarantee!?): http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=11348635&fh_loca tion=//catalog01/en_GB/categories%3C{9372013}/categories%3C{9372031}/categories%3C{9372100}/specificationsProductType=sealants
Its a curing agent. Its a skin and organ intoxicant.
it does say on the website it contains to fungicides etc... so this is all good?? but then on the label it says keep away from children and animals... does that mean when it hasnt cured? will be ok when cured etc and left to dry out??
geroge - does that mean it will be ok once cured and left to dry in the viv? (because even tho like u said its a curing agent.. i guess it will still be in the silicone anyway)
I was going to use it tomorrow... but if not then i better get a new one!!
I bought it because the website said it didnt contain anti fungus mould etc... so hopefully it will be ok??
After researching "2-Butanone oxime".. i have found that it basically speeds up the drying of the silicone like you said, but it also says it's toxic? Will the be only until it has cured within the silicone and then it will safe?
Like i said if it cures for a week and then you wash it real good then maybe. It has to be food safe labled when its cured and washed .Does it say that.
I personally like Ace 100% rubber silicone. I have been using it with no problem.
I'm going to be safe and spend more money on the aquarium safe stuff £20 for 290ml!! So rather than £10 for x2 290ml... It will be £40 x2 290ml... Better to safe than sorry....
Do you think I could get away with using clear silicone for the dirt providing I make sure it's covered?? That's fish safe and only £10 for 310ml.
Yes,better safe than sorry.
Is it harder to make it look good with cream foam and clear silicone? I suppose you can see what's covered With dirt that way
I bought a black sillicone, its so dam hard to spread around the vivarium... i thought i could use a paint brush but i ended up using the handle of the brush to actually spread it around!
Ive done one side... going to leave it on its side over night... fingers crossed... ill probably have some patching up to do!... I'm really glad i bought the black one as well... gives a bit more room for error....
When in doubt, leave it out.
Watching FrogTV because it is better when someone else has to maintain the enclosure!
