Default Hiding places, could really use some help!

My toads terrarium, from one wall, out about 4" is two large clumps of moss, the origional moss I had was dying, it was tunring brown from them digging in it, but it was a great place for them to hide, yesterday, I replaced it with a different, more firmer type of moss, and they don't seem to like it.

Should I put the old moss back in? It was looser, and eaiser for them burry under.

Also, any advice on how to make them some more hiding pacces? Right now, I have 2 clumps of moss, beside that is a half log, which they don't go in (I think it's too low), and then some corn husk leaves, again which they don'y burry under, and the rest of the tank is pretty open.

    Thanks

    ~Royce

There's no harm in putting the old moss in. You're a victim of your own sympathies though - you've given them such a wide range of choices that they can afford to be fussy!

So, it dosen't matter if the moss turns brown, it'll kinda just be like leaf litter (type thing) then?

Yeah, I guess your right, if they were in a pet shop, they most likely would not have thing to hide in.

    Thanks John!

They're just being spoiled You could try putting bits of driftwood for them to burrow under

Haha, right on, I'm glad their spoileld! I had a piece of wood in their for the longest time, and they would only defacate on it, never dug under it, they have always gravitated towards the moss...?

Interesting... maybe they like the fact that it's soft and can hide them?

That was my theory, but today, I found my black toad hiding under the half-log I have in there, so there's hope for my spoiled toads

lol well then I don't have an answer as to why they didn't use the driftwood... but that's great! I'm sure they're very happy with an owner like you!
