    Default New Western Toadlets!

These wonderful little guys were just hanging around my house along with some more buddies. I put a water dish in my yard for them, and took two inside I am just wondering exactly how big of a terrarium two Western Toads would need as adults?
I also have pics, but my camera doesn't seem to want to upload them to the computer...

For two of these toads, as babies or adults, your best choice would be a 10 or 15 gallon terrarium, but the bigger the better! I have two 1.5" american toads living happily in a 10 gallon.

I agree with Royce. You should view a 10 gallon (40 Liter) as the bare minimum. These are active amphibians who move around a lot at night, so to be fair to them you should provide something significantly bigger than 10 gallons.

I would recommend a 20 gallon long for two adults. Toads need the floor space. Of course, something smaller while they are growing would be fine.

thanks guys! I currently have them in a 10 gallon, and they are both a bit smaller than a penny.

I'm sure I will enjoy them Yes, I do feed them in the ten gal, why do you ask? Also will a 9" tall, 16" wide, and 22" long tank work for when they're older? Thanks

That sounds to be about a 15 gallon, I think that would be perfect, but the more space you provide them with, the better!

Excellent! Do you think I should move them to it now, or wait until they grow up?

I would, mine was only 1/2" long when I put him in a 10 gallon, and he adjusted fine, no harm giving them a larger tank, just make sure to give them a lot of hiding places... oh, and some moss.

Great! lol they're already wanting to roam around more. They're suprisingly quick for toads! and I certainly will give them moss!
