Can my whites tree frogs eat maple bugs?

I'd probably advise against feeding them Maple bugs.. I remember I gave one of my whites one and he spat it out, and they really don't have much meat on them, they are predominately shell and appear to secrete some kind of strange odor. Go for something juicy
