I finished my new tank. Well, I'll probably still be making modifications here and there and I need to add one more plant in the middle. I'm also going to make a base for it that matches the new lid, but this is it for now. I went from a 20 gallon to a 29 gallon tank. I know it's sort of cartoony-looking, but I wanted it to fit in with my decor since it's sitting right in the middle of my dining/living/kitchen area. I'm also not the best photographer, so please put up with my bad pictures.
The red bowl is the water dish for soaking. I added the birdhouse as another place to hide. I added 4 little rock ledges on the back and side of the tank for more perches. I used moss from my backyard to cover the substrate. I also made a new lid that has a screened portion in the middle, and a Lexan panel on each end that I can slide open for feeding and maintenance. It's not as pretty as I would like it to be, so I'm a little hesitant to post a picture of that, though.
Here are three of the frogs as they were exploring their new digs.
Here's one frog discovering one of the new perches.
And here's my biggest male claiming his territory. LOL!
And this last one is of my cat, lamenting the fact that this tank is too high for her to jump on top of. She's probably plotting how to get up there.
So, that's it. I'm open to constructive criticism, just be nice about it.![]()
I love it, a frog in a bird house. Very clever idea. The frogs seem to like it,and thats what important here.
I like this a lot, and I know you said you're not the best photographer but I really like that calling photo. Well done.

I also like the pic with the cat watching frogtv.
Wow, that is awesome. Very clever idea to blend it in with the house. It definitely looks like the frogs are happy. One more plant wouldn't hurt.![]()
This terrarium is super cute! I love how you made it to match your decor! Great idea! That is how my terrarium started out nautical, as it is in my room.

Bravo, bravothe bird house has inspired me. I love the fact that you have done something totally different.
My main critique would be more plants- what you've got will fill out and you did mention adding another, so that's good. The "cartoony" look is good- it goes with your decor as you say. That you considered how the tank fits in with the rest of the room is nice
Don't be shy, post away! "How to make a lid" is a fairly common question here, so having another example is always good.
I have to agree with John too, the photo of the calling male is great! The cat one is cute too.
Very nice looking tank. believe it or not we have a bird house in our backyard no birds nest in so a big grey treefrog has made it his home.
I agree with everyone above, that I'm afraid there's nothing for me to say! Love it, love it. love it!!
very different idea
Thanks, everyone. I think the frogs really like it in there. I heard two males calling at the same time last night for the first time ever. Usually it's one or the other. That was a fun treat.
Are the frogs european tree frogs? the birdhouse is genius... love it and am going to give it a try myself. thanks for the inspiration. i think you should be a little less shy about posting in future if your pics a bad i cant wait to see what you consider a great one.
i love it too! especially the one with the cat. i have 2 cats and they really haven't figured out that there are frogs in the house...only that they are not getting attention when I'm dumping fruit flies into the tank. one of my cats typically weaves in and out of my legs while I'm doing this...I can just predict a fruit fly drop!
I really like your idea and it looks relatively easy to implement!
that is beautiful!!!!
Very well done. Your imagination did you and your frogs well with the use of the bird house :-)
