the basement is heated some im not worried about a temp drop and no i dont have a back ground on the side because i a heat pad on the sides of the tank.... should i put the heat pads under the tank and then get something to cover the sides? and if i use the metal mesh lid wont all the humidity escape?

@Joe, don't worry about covering up the 3 sides for now... Don't put the heat pads under the tank; the metal mesh lid will help humidity escape, yes. You can cover half of the lid with a damp hand cloth or plexiglass - glass. Just leave a little bit of area for ventilation and a lamp if you're using one with the heat pads. To make your frog feel secure, since you're not doing the 3 sides covered, get some artificial plants or hides to let him hide under during the day.

I took some pics so you can see what the tank looks like and the setup i think there is plenty of covering on one side of the tank near the water bowl "cool side"and then i left the heated side wide open.... should i put the plants on heated side as well?.... as you can see it seems he has came up to the surface a bit since he has been down in the basement.... Also you can see what i did with the lid. the plastic lid is about an inch short so some of the air can escape.... you think this is good or put the mesh one on? Also i was thinking about just leaving his down there for 5 days or so with no food and then tossing a bunch of crickets in there and seeing what happens? good idea or should i just toss in a few and try to see if he eats them by tom?

When your frog is stressed it may be a bad idea to have a bunch of crickets in his cage as they can increase the stress level and literally pick at the frog.

I really liked the basic first aid article that was posted, I looked around the web a bit and could not find a source to get the recommended meds to keep on hand without a prescription. Anyone know where to get them?

Now i read the article now if im not mistake the treatment for stress is place it in a small dish with some tepid water and a teaspoon of honey. Place the frog in this solution for 30 minutes?
