I *think* pet toads can be kept in a group; a toad knot, and won't eat one another porvided they are the same size- I just want to confirm this.
Youtube videos like this one suggest to me toads are social creatures and like to be with other toads:

If you have toads, can you keep several together- or should they be kept in isolation?
They are not social at all. They only come together to breed. However, you are correct in your assumption that they can be kept in groups provided they are about the same size.

Since July of this year, I'v had 2 Fowler toads in a 29L and they are doing great together. I've read that toads are communal and then also that they are not. My two seem to hang out together most of the time, even when they bury themselves in the substrate. One is definitely male, still not sure about the other one.
They should be fine together as long as they are close to the same size; toads will canibalize each other if there is enough of a difference.
Toads generally are not social, there is nothing they need to do close quarters except mating. However, I've noticed that housing toads together can make skiddish toads less skiddish, especially around feeding time. Once they see another toad moving around and feeding they become more docile and open to feeding themselves.
I keep my toads in small groups and I have noticed that they are almost always found together, usually sitting next to or on top of each other. It is very tempting to conclude that they are social! Perhaps they simply gravitate to the same preferred spots in the tank. Like Wormwood, I have also noticed that the feeding activity of one toad will stimulate the others to feed. Certainly, toads do very well in groups of similar-sized individuals.
