Okay, we breed C. cranwelli.
We have had to learn as we go the first year and have noticed a few things since we started about colors.
We have noticed that when kept on coco fiber, ALL colors tend to darken down (our guess is to blend better with the environment) quite a bit. Greens will turn brown. Browns will turn almost black. Even Albinos will dull out.
Prior to going to an Expo to vend, we will keep them in containers with a paper towel substrate so that their true colors will show. I also explain to customers that the colors will darken once they are placed in an enclosure with coco fiber.
have any of you noticed this type of change in your pet?
Try it out, take photos and post them so others can see it. I will try to do the same.
I just figured it would help folks who are shopping for a Pac to choose one when shopping the pet stores.......gives a better idea of what color they are bringing home.
I knew it all along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yup I saw that at jamescapo house .He has them in spagnum moss, with no issues. There colors at bright
Some of ours still dull down with the moss. Ppppppffftttttt!!
That's really interesting. Grif used to be a lighter color than he is now and when I quarentined him on paper towels while he was sick he got really lite colored. He faded from dark to whitish from head to vent. After he was back in eco earth he returned to his darker color.
I bought an Albino a few days ago, his tank is lined with Coco Fiber. When I got him he had some green on both sides of his stomach, and now he seems to be gaining more green every day and looking Less Albino????? Has this ever been heard of?
So wet paper towels get them bright and brings the colors out. Im going to try that
Do you ship to NY. If so how much please.
We've seen this quite a bit in ours.......they ALL change somewhat as they mature. The albinos are much more noticeable. You also have to remember that there are many varieties of color "Morphs" in the albinos.
I can't wait to get my Albino!!!!
We ship anywhere in the US. We are working on getting FedEx Certified so the cost of shipping will be less intimidating!!
We tried Ship Your Reptiles and the costs are ridiculous......they go through FedEx so we figured why not just do it ourselves. We have a few friends who have done the same and the costs go down considerably.
Today i noticed my ornate to be on the bright side. Yesterday he was dark, and today he's all yellow. He has been on dirt.
