Hello all!!
As some of you know I just recently got my first pyxie. I'm not that new to herps, so I gotta good idea on how to keep this guy happy. I did a bunch of research on this forum too which has definitely helped! Now, I have her in a 56QT rubbermaid tub. I had a low wattage heat pad going to keep the tub a little warmer, but hasn't really done much for ambient temps. Since the weather over here in NY was been dropping I've noticed my frog's behavior changing. She had her eye's shut at one point, and seemed rather lethargic. I'm assuming its because of the temps. I added a heat lamp which has the tub at 80-82 degrees now. I also misted it a bit to bump the humidity up. But from what I understand these guys can handle low humidity quite well, so I'm blaming the temps.
Another thing I want to know is about aestivation. Do all pyxie's go through this, or is it just ones that go through low temps? I would like to prevent this if possible, but if it happens normally then w.e. Just sounds kind of weird, and would rather skip the aestivation if at all possible. I just hope she isn't doing this right now lol. Here's what she looks like since I turned the lamps on. As you can see her eyes are open now, and seems a little less lethargic. But I can't really tell yet.
