Welcome to the forum. This is easy. I would cut some screen and use a glue gun to glue it together. just take some steel wool and go around the edges of the openings You have 3 openings . The filter, heater, and light. This way you can have some ventilation. The nice looking wood hood will hide all that just like now. You like some tree frogs .LOL I don't think they make a screen for hex's. 30 years in fish keeping and i never ran into one. Tree frogs would love that tank.

Yep, I'm looking at getting a couple WTFs for it! And thanks! I can see gluing in the screen for the filter and heater area, but how do I go about fitting in a screen for the main opening so that I can still get in and out of it? (It's been a long week at work, so I may be a little dense about picturing this in my head right now.)

Okay, I'm thinking about creating a wooden frame for a lid for the main opening by using an inner rectangular frame to wrap the mesh around then attach the mesh to it, (either with glue or staples), then an outer frame to attach against the mesh and inner frame, so it's held between the two sections for more security. Then attach strong magnetic strips on all four sides of the frame, and against the main opening so that the lid is flush against the tank top. Any opinions on whether this will be effective or not?

if you dont care to much about the price could get to peices of plexiglass a bit bigger then your tank and custom cut them to fit, drill some matching holes through both pieces of plexiglass place a mesh screen between them and silcon them into place.
