Oh dear, I am not good about talking about myself at all ...
My 'real' name is Joey. I am 23 and live in Cambridgeshire in the UK. I am a fair distance away from the city of Cambridgeshire and live in an area of fenland. Which is flat and unexciting to look at, but is becoming a stronghold for a lot of wildlife that the country has not seen for a long time, so i get to see some special animals if i look really hard when im out and about in the countryside.
I have a degree in Illustration and at university i specialised in illustrating publications for children. However 3 years of having to do my hobby has left me with a rather awful art block! It was at unversity i started keeping FBT. I wanted an interesting, small pet which wouldn't make a mess, or take up a lot of space. After doing my research i picked firebellies and my friend purchased me 'Buttons' as an early birthday/christmas gift (not that I actually advocate the buying of animals as gifts) a year later once i realised that actualy he seemed quite miserable i added Portobello and Enoki to the group. As you can see all my FBT's are named after Mushrooms, hence the screen name.
My other great love are Rodents, I think they are facinating, special, creatures and have always had a Hamster, Gerbils or Guinea Pigs since i was 3. I currently own 5 Guinea Pigs and 2 Hamsters. I study a course run by one of Europes top Rodentologist and Rodent Vetinary practices called 'Rodent health advise' which would qualify me to then go on to study Rodentology and be able to acvively look at peoples pets and advise the best route to take to vetinarians.
I work part time as a waitress/bar maid at a hotel (which i cant stand!) but the pay is good at least. My other weekend job is at an animal rescue and sanctuary, looking after and rehoming Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and Cats to new owners. Which i love, it has a real feel good factor when i see happy people and more importantly a happy pet. It's far more rewarding than putting plates of food infront of people.
Thats me in a nut shell, i think 'Jack of all trades and master of none' might also cover me pretty well.
(Phew i hope someone reads this it took me forever lol!)
