I thought I'd show some pictures of my non-amphibian pets.
First off my 2.5 year old doggie Casper. He's a danish/swedish breed called (at least if you translate it word for word, not sure if there's another english name) Danish/Swedish Farm Dog.
They resemble Jack Russel Terriers a bit, but they're alot calmer.
And here's the reason I don't like live feedings of rodents. Don't have any mice at the moment though. They're awesome pets but unfortunatly 90% of them had to be put down due to cancer.
It's not fun to have to go to the vet at least once a year to put your lovely pets to sleep. That's why I don't keep them anymore.

I have a mouse that looks just like the one in the first pic. also sorry about your bad luck with mice, it seems that they get alot of issues. (I have had bad luck with mice too, the one i currently have is healthy and no signs of illness... fingers crossed)
Thanks for sharing your pics! I have a Jack Russell cross, and yes, they are full of nervous energy. She even twitches in her sleep sometimes!! Though I have never had mice, I am a huge lover of rats, having had several over the years. My last two were female dumbo eared hairless rats and they were amazing, intelligent pets. Always nice to see some furry friends on here.![]()
Who would of thought to learn about mice in a frog forum. I just learned alot about mice. poor little things. I'm not big on feeding mice ,every month . Maybe one a year if that. If my frog is getting out of shape and needs that kick start ,thats when ill feed them a dead mouse. Its the inbreeding in mice.
Thanks for the replies guys!
I sure had bad luck with the mice when it came to illness. But I still feel like the pet mice genebank is not that great.
I wish you the best of luck with your though!
You're welcome!
We were looking into Jack Russels before we knew this breed existed. Then we decided this one suited us better, being calmer and more relaxed.
Never had rats, but I've heard they can get quite tame. Learning tricks and such?
I personaly wouldn't go for hairless when there's no many wonderful furcolors out there
It's always good to learn new things!![]()
You know, I never thought hairless would do it for me, but when I saw them, I fell in love. I would love to find a Siamese rat, though...beautiful markings. One day, one day! My first rat, MoJo, learned shapes, jump through a "hoop" and would come to a whistle. She was a blast. Best of all, they love to snuggle!
