I have a 35 hexagon gallon tank that I'm going to be converting into a half and half tank (with several stones in the aquatic end so that it will be shallow) and have decided to put a white tree frog in it after doing some research. It's still a few weeks away, while I continue to do research to make sure I set up the tank correctly and get all the supplies I need before I get a frog, and also allow the plants to settle in first. I was just wondering if there are any good community animals that I could put in the tank with whites?
Unfortunatly You will find most people will agree on here. DO NOT MIX! Even other species of Frogs can be a problem. The care, temp, humidity, safe plants, is only one part of the needs you will have to meet for all the species. You also have to worry about the toxins the animals might secrete being poisonous to each other... and the danger of them trying to eat eachother. It is not recommended at all. You would be better just getting 3 whites which in a 35 should still have adequated space. Remember 1 Frog per 10 gallons is recommended.
What Rae said. There really is no such thing as a community frog, at least not when living in a terrarium. If you want some variation in the tank, there's albinos, xanthic and sometimes different phases. I do not know how common this is with White's though.
Thanks! That's what I was wondering. I'll keep it to whites of similar size then![]()
Good luck!and yw... I know mixing is something most people would like to be able to do but its safer and less stressful for our lil ones not too.
