Hello everybody.
I found 2 froglets a few days ago at my father in law's house. I kinda rescued them, there was a big flood here in my region last week and I found them almost drowning in mud. It'll be my first time trying to raise froglets, I've raised some tadpoles when I was a little kid, but my mother always made me release them once they completed the metamorphosis.
I think they're frogs, but I'm not sure. Can anyone help?
I found a website of an organization that works to protect the wild life (mainly amphibians) that is based not far from my city, so the species they list on their website are basically the same species that can be found around here. But I wasn't able to identify them.
Here's the link to their homepage: Instituto Rã-bugio para Conservação da Biodiversidade
They divide the amphibians in 3 groups: "pererecas" (tree-frogs), "rãs" (frogs) and "sapos" (toads).
Any ideas???
They look like toadlets (I can't guarantee it, though), because their front legs are very bulky and they still have quite dark coloration. They also appear to have small "warts" developing. Either way, toadlets and froglets alike need the same care and conditions. Young are prone to drying out. Keep an easily accessible water source and fairly high humidity. If you have any questions about the care of these beautiful little creatures, just ask!![]()
