I just acquired my first hylid group so I figured I'd hang around a bit and share experiences. Here's a few pics from their first day in their new vivarium.

I would assume they are kept like Agalychnis callidryas.

I am insanely jealous. I have been wanting these for years. Where did you get them?

As far as their husbandry it seems to be pretty close to callidryas only slightly cooler. The tank I have them in now is running a little warmer than I'd like but with a few tweaks I should be able to get it down to a low 70's average. The drops in humidity are caused by the fans turning on for 5 minutes.



The tank is a 54 gallon corner bow front with a custom made hood. currently I have seven juvenile annae in there. I wanted to create a tank that would serve both as a display viv and a functioning rain chamber.



This is the rain reservoir/drip panel that a small pump in the water section fills. Its set so the drip rate is about the same as the fill rate. I wanted to avoid the top heavy look of most light hoods so I designed the entire rain system to fit down within the 3/8" lip around the top of the tank.






In order to keep the heavy rains from soaking the substrate the floor was separated into the front land area and rear water area. The rain falls just behind the land. I'll need to get a current planted picture up since I just added a few plants again tonight.


To offset the soaking rain the hood has also been equipped with two 80mm fans on either side of the front access panel. These draw air across the front glass to clear any condensation and also immediately dry off the plants so they don't rot.

Green is not even the word for it. I looked at the Dendroboard ad and they are more than I can pay at the moment. Maybe you will get some breeding and there will be more for sale, hopefully lowering the price with every successful clutch.

Are you sure those plants wont get too big?

Alocasia amazonica, chances are they will get to big but they are still potted below the substrate. It wouldn't be much of a hassle to swap them out.

Oh ok. Also the separation between the water section and the land section seems steep. But that is a great tank.

Its ok. Agalychnis are arboreal so they should have no problem dealing with it.
